According to Brazilian governmental research institute EPE, Brazil has in the region of 700GW potential capacity to develop offshore wind energy, and as of June 2022, there are applications filed with the environmental agency to install in shallow waters fixed seabed foundation wind turbines with a total capacity of 133GW.

Green hydrogen is also expected to be produced in Brazil at a large scale from offshore wind, the International Renewable Energy Agency has included Brazil in a group of countries to produce hydrogen offshore.
